HoofnHorn is an online livestock marketplace and heritage breed community.

A place built by people who care about the animals, the people raising them, the community around them and the history we're all trying to carry forward.

A better way to buy & sell heritage livestock.

HoofnHorn is a livestock marketplace built for better listings, more transparency, and better connections between buyers and breeders. We built it because buying and selling heritage animals should never come down to guesswork about who is on the other end. Everyone here is verified, the details are out in the open, and we have your back on every sale.

Safe. Secure. Trusted.

Livestock auctions the way they should be.

HoofnHorn takes what technology does better, like access, convenience, information and connecting people across the country, and combines it with what the old way did better, like trust, reputation, transparency and community.

Your animal stays on your farm until it is sold. There is no sale day, no hauling and no night away from the place. You run the auction from the kitchen table and the buyers come to you.

For buyers

Find the right animal from breeders across the country and buy it with confidence.

  • Buy with confidence, knowing who you're dealing with.

Every breeder and buyer here is verified, so there is no guessing who is on the other end of a sale.

  • See the whole animal before you bid.

Every listing is built to give you what matters when you evaluate livestock, so you can decide on the facts, not the photos.

  • A knowledgeable community helps you judge the animal.

Every auction has a live discussion where buyers and breeders weigh in, ask the seller questions and share what they know.

For sellers

Reach serious buyers across the country and sell on your terms, without hauling a single animal to a sale.

  • A nationwide pool of serious, verified buyers.

Buyers come to HoofnHorn looking for heritage breeds, whether they live ten miles away or three states over.

  • Sell to bidders who mean it.

Every bid comes from a verified buyer who is committed to the purchase.

  • List for free and sell on your terms.

Auction or set price, with or without a reserve. You decide how your animal sells.

A marketplace and a community for heritage breeds.

It's never just an animal. It's a community as much as a marketplace, and half the fun of a sale is watching the bidding, discussing the animals and building new relationships.

We want HoofnHorn to be a community where buyers and breeders share what they know and join the conversations around heritage breeds.

Raising heritage breeds means protecting pieces of agricultural history. The breeding decisions we're making today become the pedigrees somebody else may be studying years from now.

“The internet took away some of the old small-town community of buying livestock, but it also gave us the ability to find our people no matter where they live. I think we can have both.”

Our story

HoofnHorn grew out of two very different experiences with the same problem.

Emily had spent years raising, buying, selling, and marketing Highland cattle, and helped found the Southeast Highland Cattle Show & Sale. She had also been scammed herself while trying to buy livestock online.

Jason had spent his career building technology and products. He wanted to build a Highland herd of his own, and finding the right cattle was far more fragmented than he expected.

Today, they are building the kind of marketplace they both wished had existed when they were on opposite sides of the search.
